The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and 11Even Sports today announced the roadmap for the proposed franchise based Table Tennis League in India.
TTFI and 11Even Sports representatives recently met with major table tennis federations from across the world in Kuala Lumpur and were encouraged by the support they received for the proposed TT League in India. Similarly, the representatives of world governing body, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) were impressed by the growth and interest in sports leagues in India and have assured of their support in popularising the sport through TTFI.
Mrs Vita Dani, 11even Sports said she was encouraged by the support from both Indian as well as the world federation.
“We had a possible window available in May-June this year. But since it was just ahead of the Rio Olympics, we decided not to pursue, as Olympic is a landmark event in any athletes career and we would not want anything to come in way of a player’s preparations for the world event,” said Mrs Dani.
“We have planned the world’s first professional franchise-based Table Tennis League in India, dates of which will be announced post the Rio Olympics. We are upbeat on the prospect of the proposed League, and what it means to bring the sport back in the spotlight for our Indian players. 11Even Sports is thankful to the ITTF for their support and continues to work with the world body to create a calendar for TT in India which will include franchise based league as well as international events.”
