Paul the Octopus plays table tennis with four opponents in Betfair ad

In a brilliant new advertisement from Betfair, which is the world's largest Internet betting exchange company, an octopus has been shown playing table tennis against four human competitors.

The octopus is said to be part of the ongoing FIFA World Cup campaign with TV partner ITV, remembering late Paul the Octopus who was successful in predicting the outcomes of several FIFA World Cup matches in 2010, bringing him worldwide fame with people often calling him the animal Oracle.

Talking to The Drum, Betfair’s brand director Mark Ody said, “Betfair’s innovative products offer our customers something totally unique, so now our advertising is unique to access a whole new recreational audience at the World Cup. The adverts move away from industry stereotypes because Betfair itself is different; products such as “Cash Out” and “Price Rush” give our customers better tools to play with. Simply put, we supercharge our customers betting experience.”
