Players with their display of master strokes, smashes and aces managed to impress everyone on the day three of HCL Tennis Junior Tour and Masters at the Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida. Power packed strokes and nail-biting matches one after the other made every tennis lovers dream come true.
The top players at the tournament were in action on day three to grab the semifinals spot.
Rahul Pamei (Boys Under-12) played wonderfully and defeated L N Nithis Balaaji (3rd seed) in straight sets. Scoreline was 6-1, 6-4. Mekhala Manna (Girls Under-14) defeated Viveha Sivaraman in a close match. Round was pretty exciting and went on to a tiebreaker decider with the scoreline reading 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-2.
A Peer Mentoring workshop was also organised for the players and their family members. Mr Stefan Hermann conducted the workshop. Hermann is a self-described social entrepreneur and a retired professional tennis player who is involved in youth mentoring. Peer/Youth mentoring is a form of mentorship that usually takes place between a person who has lived through a specific experience and a person who is new to that experience.
Through the discussion during the session, players learnt how they can deal with the school work, tennis sessions, peer pressure, family problems or tension and other typical difficulties of growing up. The workshop was unique in itself.
