India's Karman Kaur reaches WTA Future Stars final

India's Karman Kaur Thandi qualified for the Under-16 final of 2014 WTA Future Stars event beating Indonesia's Rifanty Khafiany 6-1, 7-5 in the semi-final at the Kallang Tennis Centre here Sunday.

Karman will now meet Taipei's Hsiang-Wen Huang, who beat Japan's Eri Shimuzu 7-5, 2-6, 10-3 in the other semi-final.

Karman will approach the title round clash with a positive frame of mind having beaten Hsiang in the league stages. The Indian won all five matches in her group in straight sets.

In the U-14 event, India's Mahak Jain crashed out in the semi-finals, losing 3-6, 1-6 to Japanese Yuki Ando.

Yuki will meet Thasaporn Naklo, who downed Ni Ma Zhouma 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-2 in the semis, in the championship match.

The event is being played alongside the World Tennis Association (WTA) finals, featuring the world's top eight singles players and eight double pairs here.
