Daniil Medvedev won his fourth title of the season on Sunday, defeating Jannik Sinner 7-5, 6-3 in the final of the 2023 Miami Masters. This was Medvedev's fifth consecutive final on tour.

Dwelling on his first Masters triumph since becoming a dad, Medvedev stated that his daughter would probably be more interested in him being at home than winning a title.

"I'm not sure if she cares about whether I have a title or not because probably she would be happier if I come home over there," Medvedev said.

During the on-court interview after the final, a visibly ecstatic Medvedev also joked that his daughter didn't really care if he won an ATP 1000 or 500 event.

"Well, I dont think my daughter cares if it's a 1000 or a 500," said the World No. 5, who welcomed his first child in October last year.

Interestingly, all of Medvedev's Masters 1000 titles have come on hardcourt.

After winning the title in Rotterdam earlier this year, the 27-year-old reigned supreme in Doha and Dubai. A loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Indian Wells Masters halted the juggernaut, but Medvedev did just enough to overcome Jannik Sinner under challenging conditions in Miami.

Jannik Sinner began the match well but was pegged back by a determined Medvedev. Sinner, who beat Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, committed several unforced errors after getting to 5-5 in the first set.

Daniil Medvedev pointed out that the prevailing conditions did affect the play on Sunday.

"Today was a tough match, was probably the hottest day and the most humid, during the day conditions were not easy," said the Moscow-born star.

After asking Sinner if he had an injury or a cramp, Medvedev stated that he himself struggled with the conditions even though he tried not to show it.

"I don't know if you had a small in jury or cramp, tough conditions. I was also struggling, tried not to show it," he said.

Daniil Medvedev is the first player since Novak Djokovic in 2020 to reach two ATP Masters finals on the trot. He made it to the title round in both the Sunshine Double events.
