Madrid, July 11 (IANS) Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova on Monday agreed with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to postpone the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), to consider her challenge against a previous decision to suspend her from playing tennis for two years.

ITF decided to ban Sharapova for two years for failing a doping test on January 26 during the Australian Open, reports Efe.

CAS's statement read that the two conflicting parties announced that there is no need to speed up the court's consideration of Sharapova's challenge against the ITF's decision, and thus, the final CAS ruling will be determined on September 19.

As a result, Sharapova will miss the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics in August.

The Russian admitted last March that she has been taking meldonium since she was 10, while the substance was included on the banned list only last January.
