21-year-old American tennis player Sloane Stephens decided to go the unfamiliar route in her preparations for the Australian Open. Most players stick to a strict regime of training and rest to ensure that they are in the best shape for the start of a Grand Slam.

But the 2013 Australian Open semi-finalist headed to the Great Euro Circus and ended up participating in a dangerous stunt. A professional knife thrower consistently threw knives only inches away from Stephens, much to the astonishment of onlookers.

Having succesfully survived the stunt, Stephens will hope that her daredevilry spurs her on to success in Melbourne.
