A bronze medal at the national games is no mean feat and deserves to be celebrated. Right? Wrong, if you are Chinese apparently.
A video which started doing the rounds a couple of days back shows a Chinese sports official slapping tennis star Li Na after she claimed third place in the mixed doubles event at China’s national games.
The video shows the official placing a medal around Li’s neck and then reaching out and striking her left cheek. Although the video does not capture Li Na’s reaction, her compatriot standing next to her seems quite perplexed about what had just unfolded.
