"You’re bloody good; But it’s time to let me shine" - Andy Murray's 'other' brother jokes of Brit grabbing spotlight again after win in Qatar Open

Andy Murray's fictional brother Duncan Murray has jokingly stated that it is unfair of the Brit to always grab the spotlight from the rest of the Murray family after he registered a scintillating comeback win at the Qatar Open on Thursday.

Murray faced off against Alexandre Muller in the quarterfinals of the Doha-based tournament. The Brit roared back from a set down to beat the Frenchman to earn a place in the semifinals. Winning once again after trailing at the start of the match, Murray became a major talking point among fans and critics alike.

Duncan, the fictional character who was originally created for BBC Short Stuff four years back, jokingly expressed his annoyance with the World No. 70 stealing the attention of the public yet again.

"Ok bro, I get it, you’re jealous that me and mum are doing a show at The Kings for @GlasgowComedy Festival. But you don’t need to keep grabbing the limelight to get back at me. We get it. You’re still really bloody good. But it’s time to let me shine!," Duncan wrote in his tweet.

Murray got off to a quick start, taking a 2-0 lead by securing the early break. However, the opening set turned on its head as the Brit gave the break back and Muller lunged at the advantage to clinch four straight games.

The 35-year-old was quick to pounce back on the Frenchman in typical Murray fashion and secured the subsequent two sets, losing just three games in them.

During the post-match press conference, Andy Murray reflected on the bigger challenge that awaits him for the remainder of the tournament.

"Yeah, I'm putting myself in a position now, you know, to do that going into the last couple of matches, and granted, the players who are still in the tournament, it's not going to be easy," the Brit observed.

Andy Murray will lock horns with World No. 52 Jiri Lehecka in the semifinals of the Qatar Open. It will be the first meeting for the duo on tour.

Murray is feeling confident at the moment, having surpassed strong opponents including fourth-seed Alexander Zverev and Lorenzo Sonego in his path to the last-four. He will be hoping to continue the good form when he faces the Czech at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Friday.

Meanwhile, Lehecka comes on the back of an impressive win against top-seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.
