Video: Canada dominate at Triathlon World Cup

There was joy for Canada as Emelie Kretz, Ellen Pennock and Kirsten Sweetland swept the women’s podium for the host country at the 2013 Edmonton Triathlon World Cup.

And Kretz and Pennock quick established an advantage at the end of the 750m swim.

Flora Duffy was looking strong on the bike and she led a group of 10, which included the Canadians, to gain another 15 seconds over the pack chasers.

The Canadian trio ran an extremely quick first lap, for a 14-second advantage.

Kretz managed a breakaway on the final lap, leaving teammates Pennock and Sweetland behind.

The 20-year old flew down the finish chute for her first World Cup title in 1:03:18. Pennock took silver and Sweetland bronze.

There were hugs on the finish line, as Canada celebrated their success.
