Video: Rouault enjoys success at Triathlon World Cup

The ITU Triathlon World Cup meeting took place in Canada on Sunday, in front of an expectant home crowd.

Canadian Andrew McCartney was impressive during the swim and left the water with a considerable 19-second lead over his nearest competitor.

Several riders fell on the first of three laps of the cycle course, while Australian Peter Kerr led the chase of McCartney.

But it was Ivan Ivanov lead the field into the decisive run and the Ukrainian managed to stay at the front, where he was joined by Gregory Rouault, Kyle Jones and Mexico’s Rodrigo Gonzalez.

Rouault of France proved too strong for that group in the final stages, stretching away from Jones to win his first ITU World Cup gold in a time of 57 minutes 39 seconds.

Canadian Jones followed seven seconds behind for second place, with Ivanov completing the podium places.
