On Friday, April 19, the American singer-songwriter UMI released a new version of her collaborative song with BTS' V, wherever u r, featuring NATURE, a non-profit organization that advocates for environmental projects all around the world. While the song was initially released back in December 2023, this version aims to contribute to the organization's ideals and support its activities.

According to the policies followed when an artist features NATURE in their songs, 50% of the recording royalties and 70% of the royalties for the songs that are classified as Ecosystem Tracks are distributed to a charity called EarthPercent. The charity is based in England and Wales. They redistribute the funds they gain to several human rights-based conservation initiatives that take place around the world.

Fans have been praising and appreciating UMI and BTS V's efforts to contribute to the non-profit organization NATURE's actions and activities to conserve the environment.

In December 2023, UMI released a collaborative song with BTS' V. Though the song was released when the K-pop idol was serving his mandatory military service, the recording was done before his departure. The idol contributed to his verse and entrusted the singer with the production, creation, and lyrics for the rest of the track, wherever u r.

The song was well-received by fans as they expressed that both of the singers' voices complimented one another. Additionally, given that both of the artists' ideal genres revolved around RnB, the collaboration was a huge success both in terms of aesthetics and commercial measurements.

While the track has already been loved by fans, in general, its recent release might just garner more attention to not just their collaboration but also the causes UMI and BTS' V are advocating for.

The new version of the track features NATURE. The non-profit foundation was launched on April 19 through a project launched by Museum For The UN in collaboration with Sounds Right, for a global campaign. This means that NATURE has now been classified as an artist on Spotify and several other official streaming platforms.

The project was kickstarted to create a profit of $40 million for environmental conservation efforts with the help of over 600 million listeners who occupy Spotify. This profit amount is expected or aimed to be achieved within the first four years of its functioning. How it works, therefore, is through artists adding NATURE as a featured artist in their tracks.

Each time someone listens to these songs through Spotify, a percentage of the royalties reach the charity, EarthPercent, which will distribute its collection to contribute to biodiversity conservation and restoration projects in places across the world where the ecosystem is under threat.

This distribution, however, is advised by the Sounds Right Expert Advisory Panel. With their group of expert biologists, environmental activists, indigenous representatives, etc., the panel decides on how the funding should be distributed. Therefore, given that UMI's new version of wherever u r is under the 'Feat. NATURE's playlist, whenever someone listens to the track, a percentage of the royalties will be contributed to the campaign.

Fans have been commending UMI on her step towards contributing and advocating for the environment.
