The arrest of Robert Feldman came long after the investigators had gathered enough evidence to believe that Stacy Feldman's death was not accidental after all. The 44-year-old mother-of-two from Denver, Colorado was found dead in her bathtub on March 1, 2015, following a conversation with her husband's mistress.

A tip from Susan McBride to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers revealed that Robert Feldman had had multiple affairs with other women. He had reportedly been uncooperative with the paramedics and firefighters at the crime scene. Robert Feldman had also called the Coroner's Office persuading against an autopsy and had additionally cashed out $750,000 from Stacy's life insurance policy.

The Dateline episode titled The Sisterhood first aired on September 30, 2022, and will re-air on May 17, 2024, at 9 pm EST on NBC exclusively. The synopsis reads

"After the cause of the death of Stacy Feldman in her Denver home is ruled as undetermined, friends and family join forces to piece together what happened; insiders close to the case speak out about the seven-year battle for justice."

Why was Robert Feldman arrested? Details explored

While Stacy's cause of death was declared "undetermined" at first, a second opinion from one of the major doctors in the county specializing in domestic violence, Dr. Bill Smock, confirmed her death to be due to "an assault, which included blunt force trauma, strangulation and suffocation."

Robert Feldman had been going out with one of his Tinder dates, Susan McBride, under the alias of Bob Feldman, Mike Reed, and Robert Wolfe. He had mentioned his divorce and allegedly described his ex-wife, Stacy Feldman, as an absentee mother, according to 9News.

According to the arrest affidavit, Robert Feldman had been uncooperative by being "over dramatic" with the paramedics and responders at the scene. Furthermore, KDVR reported that the 911 operator had instructed him to perform CPR on Stacy Feldman but they heard no changes in her respiration apart from other indications.

Assistant District Attorney Maggie Conboy spoke on behalf of a homicide detective saying

“He had never been to a scene where there was no water all over the floor when a body is pulled out of the tub."

Following Susan McBride's tip to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers in June 2015, the investigators found that Robert Feldman had cashed out $750,000 from Stacy Feldman's life insurance policy from American General Life Insurance. According to the prosecutors, Robert had called the Coroner's Office asking them to not conduct an autopsy.

Robert had allegedly called American General Life Insurance to release a letter stating no reasons for suspicions about her death to ensure smooth disbursement of the insurance claim.

With the strong circumstantial evidence, the investigators took a second opinion from Dr. Bill Smock who reviewed the first autopsy report and the photographs from the crime scene. Stacy Feldman's death was declared to be a concealed homicide staged to look like an accident and Robert Feldman was arrested for the same.
