Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur player Rohan Ricketts has been suspended indefinitely by his current club Dempo for his comments on Twitter on Monday.

The former English youth international had expressed his unhappiness at Dempo due to ‘certain individuals’, with coach Armando Colaco in particular being criticised. Ricketts also wrote on his personal Twitter account @RohanRicketts that he was feeling unsafe in India.

Dempo confirmed to Sportskeeda on Thursday that the 30-year-old has been given 48 hours to come up with an explanation.

Colaco was quoted saying on Dempo’s official website, “There’s nothing to add other than feeling bad about the situation. He shouldn’t have behaved in this manner. Individual issues could have been sorted out with the management instead of absurd tweets on a social network. I have always maintained that Rohan was a player with a ‘touch of class’. But, he went too far with his actions and let himself get out of control.”

It remains to be seen whether Ricketts responds or decides to part ways with the Goan club, where he hasn’t been a regular due to differences with coach Colaco.
