Salgaocar are set to be docked points for fielding the unregistered duo of Australian Matthew Foschini and local lad Fulganco Cardozo in the matches against Pune FC and Bengaluru FC, Sportskeeda can reveal.

As per the letter from the I-League department, Salgaocar had failed to complete the registration process of Foschini and Cardozo but played those ineligible players in both the matches. So as per article 18 (g) of I-League Regulation 2013-14, both Pune FC and Bengaluru FC will be awarded 3-0 wins.

Salgaocar had in any case lost 2-1 to Bengaluru FC but held Pune FC to a 1-1 draw but because of their registration mishap, the Goan club will now lose one point and drop to fourth in the table while their goal difference will also suffer.

The 3-0 win will see Pune FC go level on points with league leaders Bengaluru FC and the Red Lizards also have a game in hand.

The matter will also be referred to the disciplinary committee where further action could be taken against Salgaocar. Thus the Goan outfit have been asked to send an explanation by December 10.

Gnakpa released

Meanwhile French-born Ivorian striker Claude Gnakpa has been released by Salgaocar and thus they are on the look-out for another foreigner.

Gnakpa made ten appearances in the I-League and managed to score only two goals but according to the player he left the club due to disagreements with head coach Derrick Pereira.

“I’m sad to announce that my time at Salgaocar has unexpectedly come to an end. We part ways at the top of the I-league due to disagreements with the head coach. I want to thank Salgaocar FC and associates for the opportunity given to me. I also thank the fans for their support.

“Lastly I wish all my former team-mates all the best within the I-league season. Goa has been a great experience,” Gnakpa told LutonToday.
