Kerala club Eagles FC have signed eight players on loan from IMG-Reliance. Nadong Bhutia, Bijendra Rai, Avinabo Bag, Jagroop Singh, Bisheshwor Singh, Biswajit Saha, Ramandeep Singh and Govin Singh have all joined the Kochi-based outfit that will be playing in this season’s I-League second division.

Sportskeeda also learnt that Eagles FC could be replacing Shillong’s Langsning FC in the Federation Cup that will take place in Kerala in January 2014. According to sources close to the AIFF, Langsning may not compete in the second division this time as they are finding it difficult to fulfill the club licensing criteria and thus could lose their Federation Cup slot.

The Kerala Football Association had been pushing for the inclusion of a club from their state in the Federation Cup and it looks like Eagles FC could feature in it. Formed in 2010, Eagles FC signed an agreement with English Championship outfit Reading FC back in April and as a part of the deal, eight IMG-R loanees and four members of the Eagles’ existing squad will be training at the Reading Academy between two to six weeks.

Those 12 players will have that training stint in the summer after the conclusion of the I-League second division.

“We believe in the future of Indian football. We are committed to work with our partner Eagles FC Kerala and IMG Reliance to build world class footballers from India over the next few years,” said Mr. Nigel Howe, CEO, Reading FC.

Former East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Shillong Lajong head coach Stanley Rozario is currently in charge of Eagles and the Kerala club will be confident of promotion following the additions of the eight IMG-R contracted players.

Jhingan set to join Mumbai FC

Meanwhile another IMG-R contracted player Sandesh Jhingan is set to join Mumbai FC after failing to settle at Rangdajied United.

The defender didn’t even make it to the match squad in any of Rangdajied’s I-League matches after joining them on loan from IMG-R but now could make his I-League debut for Mumbai FC in the Maharashtra derby against Pune FC on Saturday. Thus Mumbai FC will now have five IMG-R loanees.
