London Paralympics - Performance of Indian Players on Day 2 and Schedule for Day 3

On day 2 of the London Para Games, only 1 Indian player was in action. Shooter Naresh Kumar Sharma, the polio-afflicted wheelchair athlete who is participating in the Paralympics for the third time, failed to qualify for the finals of the 10m Air Rifle Standing event after he managed to shoot only 571 points in the qualifying round. He was nowhere close to his personal best which is 584/600.

India’s sole shooter finished 24th out of the 29 shooters. China’s Chao Dong, who equaled the world record with a score of 596 in the Qualification round, won the Gold medal with a total score of 699.5. Silver medal was won by Sweden’s Jakobsson and bronze by German Shooter Neumaier. Naresh’s Quest at the London Paralympics is not yet over as he is also taking part in two other events.He will shoot in the Mixed 50m Rifle Prone event on September 4th at 1.30 PM before gunning for glory at 50m Rifle Three Positions event at the same time on September 5th.

INDIAN PLAYERS IN ACTION ON 1st SEPTEMBER

Swimmer Sharath Gaekwad will be in action in men’s 100m Breaststroke- S8 event at 3 PM(IST). The finals are at 10.50 PM.
