Sydney Swans pay emotional tribute to Bondi Junction victims ahead of Gold Coast Suns win, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in attendance at SCG

Sydney Swans paid tribute to victims of the Bondi Junction horror attack in their 110 (17.8) - 57 (8.9) victory over Gold Coast Suns on Sunday (April 20). The Swans played host to the Suns at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and both clubs offered tribute in honor of the victims killed in the sad attack that happened on April 13.

As seen on the Daily Mail, six people were killed in a devastating attack at a shopping center located just 10 minutes from the Swans' home ground. Among those lost in the attack was Osteopath Ashlee Good, the daughter of former AFL player Kerry Good. Ashlee Good's daughter was also injured in the attack and is still hospitalized.

Both clubs laid flowers as part of their tribute to the Bondi junction victims. A minute silence was also observed before the game at the SCG on Sunday afternoon.

Also in attendance at the SCG was Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. A Sydney Swan fan, Albanese, joined the 35, 469 fans in the stadium to pay respects to the victims.

The Washington Post reported that the attack at Westfield Bondi Junction left six people dead and an additional eight injured. The offender, a 40-year-old man who attacked customers at the shopping centre with a knife, was eventually shot dead by a police inspector who was in the vicinity at the time of the attack.

Sydney Swans secure top-four spot after 53-point victory over Gold Coast Suns

Sydney Swans are third on the AFL table after a 53-point victory over Gold Coast Suns on Sunday, April 21. The Swans defeated the Suns 110-57, recording their fifth win of the season.

They largely dominated the game, winning three of the four quarters. Ruckamn Joel Amartey led his side in scoring with four goals, five kicks, and six disposals. The win was a milestone victory for Brodie Grundy, who was making his 200th appearance for the Swans.

With a 5-1 record, Sydney Swans are early season premiership favorites. Their only loss of the season came in round one against the Melbourne Demons. The Swans will face the Hawks in their next game scheduled at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on April 28.
