LA Lakers superstar LeBron James was ecstatic with Austin Reaves' performance on Sunday night. James looked on as Reaves went off for a career-high 35 points to lead the Purple and Gold to the win. Needless to say, King James was more than satisfied with the performance.
LA Lakers youngster Austin Reaves delivered an absolute masterclass against the Orlando Magic on Sunday night. While considering the Lakers' conditions after two losses, the Purple and Gold needed to come away with a win to prevent a losing slide. Reaves took a rather proactive approach to the situation.
Coming off the bench, Reaves gave the Lakers a much-needed push early on. Delivering clutch baskets while drawing fouls and making some nifty passes, the youngster practically got the Lakers offense going on his own.
Reaves already had the fans' approval. Having delivered some sensational performances in his young NBA career, the guard has established himself as a fan-favorite. However, this performance against Orlando had Lakers superstar LeBron James equally hyped.
James, who was a spectator for the game, was in awe of Reaves' performance. Following the 111-105 result, the superstar shared his thoughts in the form of a very brief tweet. He said:
"AR YOU A BAD MUTHA...SHUT YO MOUTH!!! You toooooo TOUGH!!"
LeBron's seal of approval could be a huge boost for Reaves. Given the way he has been performing, it is deserved as well.
Coming off an impressive rookie season, Reaves has only developed as a player. Notching an average of 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists this season, the young guard has made a huge jump since last season.
James' hype also extends to the Lakers' improved 35-37 record. With the win taking the Purple and Gold back into the Play-in tournament, the Lakers will keep their playoff aspirations alive.
As LeBron recovers from injury, Lakeshow will also hope to keep winning games to facilitate a smooth transition for their superstar back into the system.
LeBron James expected to return this season
LA Lakers head coach Darvin Ham had some positive news to share regarding LeBron James prior to Sunday night's game. As per ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Ham mentioned that the Lakers are expecting James to be back this season.
LeBron James suffered an ankle injury in February. Although he was injured in the third-quarter of the game against the Dallas Mavericks, the forward stayed on to see his team through to the win.
Unfortunately, the repercussions have kept James out of action for a significant amount of time. Given that the Lakers have been on the brink of being a .500 team since, they've managed to stay afloat.
James, at 38 years old, is still the best player on the Lakers' roster. With a ridiculous average of 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists, LeBron single-handedly makes the team look like a playoff team.
With only a few weeks left in the regular-season, the Lakers will need their superstar back in action if they hope to mount a title run.
