March Madness 2023 Sweet 16 start date, time and games explored

The March Madness 2023 tournament has come to the Sweet 16 phase. There have been several upsets so far, but we're now left with 16 of the country's best college basketball teams.

The tournament will continue on Thursday with the first four matchups of the next round. Once again, the round will be played throughout two days, and eight winners will advance to the Elite Eight.

Considering that March Madness 2023 has had many amazing games in the first two rounds, basketball fans are in for a threat on Thursday and Friday.


March Madness 2023: Sweet 16 schedule

The first four games of the Sweet 16 round will be played on Thursday and will start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The final matchup will be played on Friday at 9:45 p.m., meaning that all Elite Eight participants will be revealed by Friday night.

Here are all the games that will be played on Thursday and their starting times.:

  • No. 3 Kansas State vs. No. 7 Michigan State - 6:30 p.m.
  • No. 4 UConn vs. No. 8 Arkansas - 7:15 p.m.
  • No. 4 Tennessee vs. No. 9 Florida Atlantic - 9 p.m.
  • No. 2 UCLA vs. No. 3 Gonzaga - 9:45 p.m.

The Sweet 16 round will conclude on Friday with these four matchups:

  • No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 5 San Diego State - 6:30 p.m.
  • No. 1 Houston vs. No. 4 Miami - 7:15 p.m.
  • No. 6 Creighton vs. No. 15 Princeton - 9 p.m.
  • No. 2 Texas vs. No. 3 Xavier - 9:45 p.m.

Once again, basketball fans will be able to watch these March Madness 2023 games on TBS and CBS. All times shown are in Eastern Time zone.


The most interesting matchups

The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Kansas Jayhawks, the defending national champions, 72-71 in the second round, which was one of the most interesting matchups. They will face another tough obstacle in the Sweet 16 round, but could definitely eliminate No. 4 UConn as well.

When it comes to Friday's matchups, many fans will be keeping an eye on the Princeton Tigers. They defeated No 2. Arizona 59-55 in the first round and had a 15-point victory over No. 7 Missouri on Saturday 78-63.

The Tigers (23-8) have had an incredible run in the tournament and are the second Ivy League school to make the Sweet 16. Beating No. 6 Creighton (23-12) will be tough, but certainly not impossible.
