Pokemon Unite tier list for May 2023

With every new month comes a wave of new updates for Pokemon Unite. While the game will most definitely receive its fair share of new content, the competitive community is ready for the new wave of balancing updates that they hope will keep the experience fun and engaging.

Unite is the first-ever MOBA game in the Pokémon franchise, and like many games in the genre, it struggles with balancing issues. Despite efforts to fix these issues through updates, the game continues to experience ups and downs while also introducing new content to keep players engaged. It's unlikely that it will ever reach a perfect state, but the developers continue to work hard to make improvements.

There have been some significant changes to the meta in recent months. As such, looking at the list, it can be inferred that the support meta for Pokemon Unite has been hit the hardest following the May balancing update. In May's tier list, tanky and untargetable supports are superior.

Sadly, Zacian is still rampant in the metagame due to it still having access to potent area damage and high base stats. Even with its biggest drawback being its lack of a third held item, Zacian's inherent toolkit in terms of its stats and moves is still too good to compensate for this downside.

With Zacian, Absol, and Gengar being staple junglers, past metagame tyrants like Zeraora and Garchomp have fallen way down into the C-Tier, making the jungle meta much more stagnant than it has been.

To sum up these changes, the support and jungle metagame has settled to a simple "good or bad" duality, while other roles are much more open, with a lot of their characters being viable.

The most recent addition to Pokemon Unite's playable roster, Chandelure, has found a nice spot in the metagame as it sits high in the S-Tier. Thanks to it still having those new character stats, a lot of players have begun playing the new entry as a much more powerful Gardevoir and seeing a lot of success.
