3 biggest things WWE cleverly told us SmackDown Live this week (23 April 2019)

With a remarkable edition of Monday Night RAW, the expectations were high for the SmackDown Live this week. Several superstars swapped brands after the Superstar Shake-Up, and we expect to see fresh matches.

Vince McMahon's billion dollar company already announced that Roman Reigns would face the consequences for assaulting Vince McMahon last week as Elias and Shane McMahon punished the Big Dog. The Drifter subsequently challenged Reigns at Money in the Bank and the latter accepted it. Lars Sullivan continued his dominance after taking down several superstars while Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair had an intense segment.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the most shocking incident of the night was the heel turn of Kevin Owens who decided to join New Day last week. Moreover, the Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor avenged his loss on RAW last week when he pinned Andrade.

#3 Kairi Sane and Asuka will dethrone the IIconics

It has not been a fruitful run for the IIconics after they grabbed the twin belts at the Showcase of Immortals. Though Peyton Royce and Billie Key are still champions, they are getting pinned every week, which is not a good sign for the champions. As a matter of fact, Peyton Royce was beaten by the new arrival from NXT Kairi Sane on SmackDown Live. The other half of IIconics, Billie Key also got pinned by Naomi on RAW this week.

The new team of Asuka and Kairi Sane took the Women's Tag Team division by storm last week. There is no denying that the two Japanese superstars are stupendous performers and they might dominate the women's division for a long time. Kairi Sane is a former NXT Women's Champion while Asuka is one of the dominant women of the company.

With the involvement of Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, they might create an obstacle for Sane and Asuka. Hence, the two teams could square off to become the number one contenders against the IIconics. Judging by the current scenario, Asuka and Sane have a big chance of deposing the present Women's Tag Team Champions.

#2 Charlotte Flair could be the new SmackDown Women's Champion

WWE already announced that Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch would confront each other first time since the Grandest Stage of Them All. The speculation was high, and the former best friends did not disappoint the fans as the two women had an extraordinary segment. It was cut short by Bayley as the Hugger and Queen subsequently fought to earn a title shot.

The segment of Bayley suggested that we might see a heel turn of the former RAW Women's Champion. Charlotte and Bayley locked horns to become the number of contender of Becky's SmackDown Women's Title and the Queen walked out as victorious. As a result, we will see a bout between Charlotte and Becky at Money in the Bank next month.

While another title shot for Charlotte might have exasperated a large number of fans, Vince Mahon's billion dollar company might have a motive behind the decision. Becky might not remain a double champion for a long time, and Charlotte could become a nine-time Women's Champion at Money in the Bank. It could allow Becky to become a full-time member of the red brand and she could have a long run as the RAW Women's Champion.

Although Becky will defend her red belt against Lacey Evans at Money in the Bank, she is not likely to lose against Sassy Southern Belle, who will fight in her maiden pay-per-view singles match at Money in the Bank.

#1 A rivalry between Kofi Kingston and Kevin Owens will be classic

Kevin Owens surprised everyone this week when he turned on the current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. The former Universal Champion joined the New Day last week, but the betrayal happened in just one week. Kingston was scheduled to face Shinsuke Nakamura, but the bout ended in a disqualification after Rusev interfered. A brawl took place inside the squared circle before Owens started assaulting Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

It was not the first time Owens turned on his partner as he did it a couple of times in the past. Besides Kingston, Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho were the victims of his betrayal. Since Owens returned as a face, many fans speculated a heel turn for the Prized Fighter. Owens has been a heel in most of his career, and he might have another stellar run as a heel.

With Daniel Bryan absent from the blue brand after the Show of Shows, Owens could be an ideal candidate to fill his void. Kingston, who is currently a fan favourite, could offer a remarkable rivalry with the Prized Fighter. Moreover, it is a fresh rivalry which could gravitate the attention of the fans. Considering the dexterity of the two men in the squared circle, they could tear the house down at Money in the Bank next month.
