3 Interesting observations from this week's RAW (April 29, 2019)

This week's edition of WWE Monday Night RAW (29th April 2019) saw a lot of contrasting moments. Right from AJ Styles and Seth Rollins brawling at the end of a contract signing to Bray Wyatt stealing the show yet again, last night's episode had it all.

Just like every year, the post-WrestleMania season sees a downward slump when it comes to creativity on the main roster shows. Last night's RAW was no exception, where every segment felt by-the-numbers (no matter how good or bad) except for the Firefly Fun House bit, of course.

Let us take a look at some interesting observations from this week's episode of Monday Night RAW...

#3 Why Sami Zayn's cleverly written segment did not work this time around

Sami Zayn's barrage against the WWE Universe continues

On paper, plotting an entire segment around using the word 'Psychological Entitlement' against fans might seem like an interesting idea.

However, the audience did not react accordingly during Sami Zayn's promo this week. It is to be noted that Sami Zayn has been part of situations before where he failed to connect with the fans, whether as a heel or as a babyface.

I personally liked the content of the promo, especially the part where Sami titled himself as the 'Critic of Critics', but we don't see a clear path of where this is leading to. The character Sami Zayn has been quite vocal about his newfound dislike for the WWE Universe. But after 3 weeks of the same thing, the fans want to see something different.

On the other hand, last night's RAW episode was tiring to keep up with right from the beginning. This could be part of the reason why fatigue set in during Zayn's segment.

Whatever the case may be, it is clear that this particular angle needs to move on to the next stage, otherwise, there would be no steam left for Sami Zayn to progress.

#2 AJ Styles is most likely to be the heel in his feud with Seth Rollins

This ongoing rivalry between Seth Rollins and AJ Styles might not call for a full-fledged heel as of right now, but we know that babyface vs. babyface feuds usually evolve up to a particular point after which the only possible direction left is for either of the two competitors to turn heel.

If last night's contract signing segment was any indication, then it seems like AJ Styles is most likely to fulfill the need for a heel persona in this particular scenario.

But until then, it will be interesting to see as to how far this feud can evolve with both men strictly under the confines of their babyface barriers.

Don't get me wrong, AJ Styles vs. Seth Rollins was the right direction to go for when it comes to the Universal Championship, but there will be a point where both of these characters will have to evolve to keep this feud interesting...

#1: Obscure moments from this week's Firefly Fun House segment explained

Bray Wyatt's new gimmick is performing beyond expectations so far

The biggest reference from this week's Firefly Fun House segment was Bray Wyatt's painting, which represented a house burning in flames.

This was a callback to Randy Orton's stint in The Wyatt Family, where the Viper would go on to burn the Wyatt Compound, thus betraying Bray Wyatt's trust. That segment alone was one of the most memorable moments in Bray Wyatt's career, and it was great to see a throwback via the painting last night.

On the other hand, a new character was introduced in the Firefly Fun House last night, and it was the 'Rambling Rabbit', who is seemingly afraid of 'Abby The Witch'. Also, Abby possibly stands for Abigail, which signifies that Abby The Witch is supposed to embody the spirit of 'Sister Abigail', who was a huge part of Bray Wyatt's dark persona in the past.

It is possible that each of these puppets (Mercy The Buzzard, Abby The Witch, Rambling Rabbit) may represent a specific member of the New Wyatt Family. I might be wrong about this, but Abby The Witch's voice sounded eerily similar to Bo Dallas.

The word of the week is 'Sociopath', which is an ironic knock towards the premise of the Firefly Fun House segments itself.

Nevertheless, even if Bray Wyatt wants to convince us that the past remains in the past, there was something maniacal about the way he finished speaking last night:

As always, I'll light the way, and all you have to do...is let me in (odd pause)...See Ya!"

Indeed, the Firefly Fun House segments are shaping up to be the best part about Monday Night RAW.
