India women defeat Korea to win recurve team gold at Archery World Cup

Indian women’s team comprising of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Rimil Buriuly created a huge upset as they defeated perennial favourites Korea to win the recurve gold at the archery World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland Sunday.

The trio dominated the range with wins over Indonesia, Mexico and Denmark, whom they defeated 214-206 in the semi-finals to reach their second straight final in a World Cup in the team recurve event.

In the final, the hosts, who qualified as sixth seed, defeated the top seed and favourites Koreans to win the medal 210-205. Deepika Kumari and co. scored 219 points to their counterparts’ 215.

Earlier, the Korean team of Yun Ok-Hee, Ki Bo Bae, and Joo Hyun Jung defeated United States, Italy and Russia on their way to final.
