Indian archers win gold in Compound men's and women's archery at SAG

Abhishek Verma helped India win the gold medal in the compound men’s team competition.

India bagged the gold medal in Compound women's archery at the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) here on Monday at the First Ground of the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex.

Purvasha Sudhir Shinde, Jyoti Surekha Vennam, and Lily Chanu Paonam kept India at the top all the way through the match, hitting the target with no less than 7, even though towards the last round they were seemingly shaken.

The women archers of India scored a total of 228 points against Bangladesh's Shushma Banik, Tamanna Parvin, and Roksana Akter, who scored a total of 217 points.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh bagged the bronze with 207 points after defeating Nepal, who managed to score 197 points.

Also in the compound men's team competition, Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chauhan, and Manash Jyoti Changmai earned India a well-deserved gold by defeating Bhutan 230-219.
