Archery World Cup 2024: India win four gold medals in compound events on Day 5

The Indian compound archery team had a successful run on Day 5 at the Archery World Cup 2024. The first gold medal came in the compound women's team event. The trio of Parneet Kaur, Aditi Gopichand, and Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated the sixth-seed Italy by 236-225.

Prathmesh Bhalchandra Fuge, Priyansh, and Abhishek Verma defeated the Dutch side in the final of the compound men’s team event. They won by 238-231 and claimed the gold medal. Jyothi and Abhishek participated in the final event of the compound mixed team event. They won the gold medal by 158-157.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam secured the gold medal in the individual women's compound archery event. She triumphed over the top-seeded Andrea Becerra of Mexico and World Championships 2023 silver medallist in a closely contested shoot-off. After five sets, both archers were tied at a score of 146.


Priyansh and Jyothi secure final spots for India in the Archery World Cup 2024

Jyothi defeated Estonia’s Meeri-Marita Paas in the semi-final of the compound individual event. With this win, Jyothi has qualified for the Archery World Cup Final scheduled in Tlaxcala, Mexico in October.

Priyansh defeated Nick Kappers of the USA in the semi-final of the compound men’s individual event by 147-146. He has also qualified for the final of the Archery World Cup Final.

Priyansh faced Nico Wiener in the final of the compound men’s individual event. He lost the match by 150-147 and had to settle for the silver medal.

On Sunday, the Indian trio of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Pravin Ramesh Jadhav, and Tarundeep Rai will face the top-seed South Korean team. It will be the final of the recurve men’s team event.

Dhiraj will team up with Ankita Bhakat to face the seventh-seeded Mexico duo of Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande in the recurve mixed team event.

Deepika Kumari will take on Suhyeon Nam in the semi-final of recuve women’s individual event. A win here will help Deepika qualify for the Archery World Cup Final.
