In a remarkable display of skill and determination, India's dynamic duo of Ojas Pravin Deotale and Jyothi Surekha Vennam claimed yet another momentous victory. This time, they left the archery world in awe as they triumphed over the formidable South Korean team at the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai. The pair has thus secured back-to-back gold medals in Archery World Cup events.

The formidable duo built upon their previous success in Antalya, Turkey, where they clinched the gold medal in the World Cup Stage 1. Deotale and Vennam showcased their exceptional teamwork and unwavering focus once more.

With nerves of steel, they outperformed the top-seeded Korean team by the narrowest of margins, prevailing with a score of 156-155.

India's dominance extended beyond the compound mixed-team event. Prathamesh Jawkar seized the individual gold medal and Avneet Kaur displayed her prowess by earning the well-deserved bronze.

Maintaining a neck-and-neck battle throughout the competition, Jyothi-Ojas and the seasoned Korean duo of Kim Jongho and Oh Yoohyun displayed exceptional precision. The two pairs consistently scored 39 out of 40 in the first three ends.

However, it was in the crucial final end that the Koreans faltered under the weight of pressure. Deotale and Jyothi once again delivered a remarkable performance, securing consecutive Archery World Cup gold medals.

Although Jyothi faced an early setback in the individual section, she quickly found her rhythm in the final match, delivering flawless shots. Meanwhile, her 20-year-old partner, Ojas, faced some initial challenges in achieving a perfect 10.

Nevertheless, Ojas skillfully complemented Jyothi's efforts and showcased his own expertise when Jyothi encountered a couple of near-misses. Their remarkable chemistry and sync were on full display, solidifying their exceptional partnership.

With the score tied at 117-117, Jyothi's final arrow landed a perfect 10, while a measurement determined the Indians as victorious over Oh Yoohyun.

Dominating the start of the 2023 Archery World Cup season, Jyothi's exceptional performance has earned her three gold medals. This includes a triumph in the individual section at the Antalya leg.

With the World Archery Championships in Berlin on the horizon, the ambitious archer from Vijayawada sets her sights on even greater achievements.

Prathamesh Jawkar clinches thrilling gold in Archery World Cup final

Adding to India's glory, 19-year-old Prathamesh Jawkar secured a remarkable gold in the individual compound event. He prevailed in a thrilling final against the former world champion of the Archery World Cup, Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands, with a close score of 149-148.

In a display of remarkable skill and determination, Jawkar showcased his brilliance throughout the competition. He secured notable victories over top-seeded Kim Jongho of South Korea (149-147) in the second round and the impressive #8 seed Choi Yonghee, also from South Korea, in the quarterfinal (149-148).

However, it was his awe-inspiring triumph over the renowned 'Mr. Perfect' Schloesser that solidified his first individual medal.

Avneet Kaur shines with first individual medal at Archery World Cup

Not to be outdone, 18-year-old Avneet Kaur demonstrated her exceptional talent by toppling the formidable top seed Oh Yoohyun of South Korea in a thrilling encounter of the third round.

Despite an unfortunate loss to Ella Gibson of the United Kingdom in the semifinal by a narrow margin of 144-146, Kaur bounced back with resilience. She clinched victory in the bronze playoff against Ipek Tomruk of Turkey (147-144), securing her well-deserved first individual medal, adding to her earlier bronze in a team event in 2022.
