The most awaited sports event of the year, the Rio Olympics, is upon us and the hype has just got real. Amongst clouds of doping scandals the morale back home in India may have been slightly dampened, but the general spirit of the athletes and supporters remains unbroken.

After months of hard work, with surprising new records, it seems that this edition of the Olympics has a lot in store for us. With every passing year, the competition gets tougher, much to the delight of sports enthusiasts. This time, like every other, the Indian contingent carries with them the hopes and prayers of a country of one billion supporters.

A great number of inspirational stories have been brought to light these past few months. We learned about individuals who beat out every obstacle with the hope of achieving just one thing – a chance to bring glory to the country. All of their struggles have boiled down to this one definitive fortnight.
