Michael Phelps is one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen. Phelps had every single swimming record to his name when he finally announced his retirement on Aug 12, 2016.

A small kid hailing from Baltimore with dreams to the most decorated Olympian of all time spanned over 16 long years from his Olympic debut in 2000 when he was 15 years old to 2016 when he passed on the baton to the younger generation. He has had a great influence on the sport as well as millions of aspiring swimmers.

Michael Phelps, the human fish, made it huge this time. He became the first and the only Olympian to win eight Golds at a single Olympics by breaking Mark Spitz's record of 7 medals.

Out of the total eight medals won in 2008 Olympics, seven were won by creating a new world record and that was something out of one's imagination and that purely depicted he was in the best form of his life.

List of races won in 2008 Beijing Olympics

Race 1. The 400-meter individual medley

Race 2. The 4x100 freestyle relay

Race 3. The 200 free

Race 4. The 200 butterfly

Race 5. The 4x200 free relay

Race 6. The 200 individual medley

Race 7. The 100 butterfly

The comparisons are over. Michael Phelps is arguably the best Olympian of all time.
