Born on February 24, 1996, Aleia Hobbs has established herself as one of the premier sprinters in American track and field specializing in the 60 meters and 100 meters. Hobbs holds the North American record for the indoor 60 meters with a blazing time of 6.94 seconds becoming the second-fastest woman ever in that event. Her career is adorned with three global medals from the national women’s 4 × 100 meters relays, two U.S. national titles, and two individual NCAA Division I championships. Hobbs' journey began at McMain High School in Louisiana where she was a 13-time state champion. She captured the 100-meter title at the 2014 USA Track & Field National Junior Olympics clocking 11.77 seconds despite a strong headwind. She led the New Era Track Club to victory in the 4×100-meter relay at the same event. Her high school personal bests included 7.49 seconds in the 60 meters and 11.49 seconds in the 100 meters.

Hobbs committed to the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers in 2014. She became a national finalist in both the 100-meter and 4×100-meter relay and earned All-American honors during her debut season in 2015. She recorded a personal best of 11.13 seconds in the 100-meter semifinals at the NCAA Championships and finished sixth in the final. She contributed to LSU’s victories in the 4×100-meter relay at the LSU Alumni Gold and LSU Invitational despite her injuries. She set a personal best of 10.85 seconds in the 100 meters which is the fastest low-altitude time in NCAA history and the second-fastest overall in 2017. She also anchored LSU to a collegiate-record-tying 42.12 in the 4×100-meter relay. Her accolades that year included an SEC title in the 100 meters and the 4×100-meter relay alongside All-America honors by finishing fifth in the 100 meters at the NCAA Championships.

Hobbs turned professional in mid-2018. Hobbs signed with Adidas. She represented the United States at the 2019 World Relays and anchored the team to gold. She began her outdoor season with a world-leading time of 10.99 seconds in the 100 meters at the 2021 Battle on the Bayou. Her stellar performance at the U.S. Indoor Championships on February 18, 2023, saw her clock 6.94 seconds in the 60 meters placing her second on the all-time world list for the event.
