Anantapur Sports Academy to host the ninth edition of the Rural Girls Athletics Meet

The two-day meet will be held this Friday and Saturday

Rural Development Trust (RDT) is organizing the 9th edition of the Rural Girls Athletics meet at RDT’s Anantapur Sports Village on the 16th&17thof October, 2015. The women development department of RDT is hosting this event, which is expecting over 350 athletes from all over the district of Anantapur.

The event will have athletes from five regions namely, Bathalapalli, Kadiri, Bukkarayasamudram, Uravakonda and Madakasira. Winners from 31 areas across these five regions will participate in the meet.

A maximum of 12 and a minimum of eight participants will participate from each area. The event will start on the 16th of October with an opening ceremony at 8.30 am, which will be presided over by RDT Executive Director, Anne Ferrer, in presence of RDT Program Director, Moncho Ferrer.

The competition will be held across nine events, namely 100m, 200m, 400m, 100*4 relay, shot-put, discus, javelin, high jump and long jump.

The meet will come to an end on the 17th of October, after two days of exciting and enthralling competition. Athletes will get special Father Vincent Awards from the yesteryear record holders between 2006 to 2014. Thereafter, the closing ceremony will be held at 12 pm which will be presided over by Executive Director, Anne Ferrer, and RDT Program Director, Moncho Ferrer, which will mark an overall end to the event.

It also provided them with an opportunity to display their talent on a bigger platform”.
