Although football was his initial passion, he earned a scholarship to play at EMU and transitioned to the college track team after his freshman year.

Scott's achievements include securing nine Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles and earning two NCAA Division I All-American honors. In his senior year, he earned a third-place finish in the triple jump at the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships and was the runner-up in the indoor competition.
