Fiona O'Keeffe is an American long-distance runner who was born on May 24, 1998. In her debut, she won the marathon in the 2024 US Olympic Trials.


During her prep years at Davis Senior High School, O'Keeffe earned the 3200-meter gold medal at the 2016 CIF California State Meet and two state cross-country championships. At the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships, she ran the sixth-fastest high school performance of all time, clocking 15:56.84 for the 5000 meters.


From 2016 until 2019, O'Keeffe was dedicated to the Stanford Cardinal track and field program. By grabbing the bronze medal at the 2019 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships over 5000 meters, she ended up qualifying for six NCAA Division I title events while at Stanford.


O'Keeffe qualified to represent the United States in the 2024 Summer Olympics by winning the 2024 United States Olympic trials marathon in Orlando, Florida, on February 3, 2024.


Fiona O'Keeffe's College Career

From 2016 until 2020, O'Keeffe attended Stanford University and was a part of the Stanford Cardinal track & field team.


Freshman (2016-17)

In her first year at Stanford University, Fiona O'Keeffe was in the All-America first team competing in the 5000 meters. She earned fifth place at the NCAA Championships. Her name ascended to No. 3 on Stanford's all-time freshmen list in the 5,000m (15:46.93) and to No. 4 on Stanford's all-time freshmen list in the 3,000m (9:17.59). She won the Cardinal Classic 5,000 in a then-PB of 15:56.03. In her college track debut at Stanford Invite, she established a 1,500 PB of 4:22.61.


At the UW Invitational, O'Keeffe ran 9:15.51 unattached. She went on to the cross country team and got an All-America honors award by finishing 37th at the NCAA Championships. At the same time, she topped the fifth-place team at the NCAA Championships. She made her debut at the Pac-12 Championship and finished 11th.


Sophomore (2017-18)

In her second year, Fiona O'Keeffe moved up to 10 on Stanford's all-time list in the 5000 meters and established a lifetime personal best of 15:34.44 at the Portland Track Festival.

She missed advancing to the NCAA Championships by one automatic qualifying spot at the NCAA West Prelims. However, she got her academic accolades such as a USTFCCCA and Pac-12 All-Academic second-team.


On the field, O'Keeffe achieved the second-team All-American honor in the 3000-meter run. She became the MPSF 3000-meter champion. She ascended her name to No.9 on Stanford's all-time list in the 3,000 m and No. 7 on Stanford's all-time list in the 5,000 m.


In cross country, O’Keeffe earned an All-America honor for the second time and was the No. 1 runner for Stanford's fourth-place team. She also set Stanford's record of 19:49.4 on Louisville's NCAA championship course and won the USD Invitational with the team running as a pack.


Junior (2018-19)

In her junior year at the university, Fiona O'Keeffe earned a CoSIDA T&F/XC Academic All-America second-team and a seventh-place finish in the NCAA 5,000 meters. She also secured herself in the First-team All-America (5,000).


Despite a setback during the NCAA race due to a fall, O'Keeffe clinched a first-team All-America title in the 5,000 meters and ascended to the No. 9 spot on Stanford's all-time list in the event. She also earned Pac-12 All-Academic first team and USTFCCCA All-Academic


O'Keeffe claimed third in the NCAA 5,000 meters and set a new school record with a blistering time of 15:35.77 in 5000 meters. She again won the MPSF in 3000 meters. She ascended from No.9 to No. 2 on Stanford's all-time 3,000m list and to No. 10 on Stanford's all-time mile list


In cross country, she secured All-American status with a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Championships and garnered All-Pac-12 first-team honors. She also achieved Pac-12 All-Academic second-team recognition.


Senior (2019-20)

In her final year at Stanford University, with the outdoor track season canceled, O'Keeffe's focus shifted to cross country. She was named to the CoSIDA T&F/XC Academic All-America first team and All-District 8.


In cross country, she led Stanford to claim the prestigious Pac-12 team championship and earned her fourth All-American recognition. She earned the title of Pac-12 Women's Athlete of the Year and a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team. She also holds accolades including Stanford Athletic Board Conference Athlete of the Year and recognition on the Pac-12 All-Academic Honor Roll, and USTFCCCA All-Academic.
