Five young athletes to watch out for in 2015

Joe Kovacs

This 25-year-old American has already set the bar for this years shot-put for the competitions to come. Excelling both at the school level, Kovacs progressed to Pennsylvania State University where he showed great improvement in his performance.

Registering the best throw in the world in 2014 at the 2014 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, his determination to improve his personal best led him to haul the shot to a distance of 22.35 m, making it the 12th best performance of all times and the best throw since 2010. Kovacs is a force to be reckoned with this year, with his consistent performance of throws above 21 met


Jacko Gill

Jacko Gill is quite the Youtube sensation, much known for his shot put training video put up by his earlier coach Didier Pope who coached him during the years of his World Youth and World Junior Championships where he not only became the youngest ever male junior champion, but also set youth Junior and youth records, with throws of 24.45 m with the 5kg shot and 23.00 m with the 6kg shot.

He recently improved his personal best in the senior category with a throw of 20.75 m, and with a gold at the Oceania Area Championships, he is proving himself quite the competitor to watch out for in the near future. His has shown gradual improvement and might prove to be good competition for fellow countryman Tomas Walsh.
