The Fastest Indian initiative by GAIL is building the perfect platform for Indian children to excel in athletics. With more than a month since the first event, the hunt for the next Milkha Singh is well and truly in full flow.

On 11th November, the Fastest Indian comes to Bengaluru, the city where the the finals will held next month. A large turnout is expected at St. Johns Hospital Ground in Koramangala on Tuesday morning when registrations start off at 8:00 am.

A few weeks ago at the Fastest Indian event in Delhi, Asian Bronze medallist Vinesh Phogat said that If India has given one Milkha Singh, it can give more. If a child is inspired and has the support, nothing can stop him or her from achieving.

At the Bengaluru event, paralympic swimming champion Sharath Gayakwad will be present to inspire the children. Gayakwad has won over 30 international medals and even grabbed six at the recently concluded Asian Para-games. He won one silver and five bronze medal to become Indian record holder for most medals at a single Asian Games event.

The hope remains that India will produce similar champions in the future. The presence of stars such as Gayakwad certainly helps to promote sport and inspire children to follow their passion in sport.
