Lausanne, June 21 (IANS) At a meeting with the heads of leading international sports federations at the Olympic summit, the International Olympic Committee executive council expressed respect for the International Association of Athletic Federations' decision to suspend the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF).

The IAAF Council met in session in Vienna on Friday to leave in effect the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF), reports Tass.

According to IOC chief Thomas Bach, everyone involved in the recent doping scandal will be banned from participation in the Olympics. The official pointed out that the suspension from the Rio Olympics was applicable only to Russian track and field athletes and did not cover the other 27 federations.

Moreover, Bach also noted that the Russian Olympic Committee had fulfilled all the demands of the IAAF, and stressed that the IAAF should make individual decisions on admitting Russian athletes to the Games in Rio.

According to the IOC chief, if Russian track and field athletes are allowed to compete in Rio, they will be part of the national team.
