Asian Games 2014: Manju Bala gets silver as Chinese athlete tests positive

Indian athlete Manju Bala had won bronze in the hammer throw event at the Asian Games on September 28. Her medal will now be upgraded to silver as Chinese athlete Zhang Weinxiu tested positive for banned substance Zeranol according to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

The girl from Rajasthan threw the chain and ball to 60.47m and came third in the event. Weinxiu set a new Games record of 77.33m to clinch gold and silver winner Wang Zheng’s best throw was 74.16m.

With this result, India now has 11 golds, 10 silvers and 36 bronze medals.
