Despite a long dispute between the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) and the National Sports Council (NSC), Nepal youth team left for Nanjing, China to take part in the Youth Asian Games to be held from August 16 to 24, 2013. The 20-member Nepali team comprises 11 athletes, six officials and three media personalities. Earlier, it was reported that the Nanjing participation was uncertain due to lack of budget and dispute between NOC and NSC.
In a farewell ceremony organised today at the capitol, National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama handed over the national flag to chef de mission Chaturananda Vaidya (NOC Executive Member & President of All Nepal Table Tennis Association) and Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan handed over kits to the Nanjing bound participating athletes.
