P.T. Usha reveals being approached for her consent on a biopic

Former Indian track and field athlete PT Usha

Gaining confidence after the positive waves created by “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, a biopic on ‘Flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh, producers are mulling over the possibility of making a film on another famous former Indian sprinter P.T. Usha.

Speaking to the Times of India, P.T. Usha herself revealed that she was approached for making a film based on her career.

Usha narrowly missed out on a bronze medal, by 1/100th of a second after a photo finish for third place, in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, which could have been avoided had she plunged forward by crossing the tape.

Usha was quoted as saying by Times of India: “Somebody approached my husband to do a film based on my life and career. He didn’t say yes or no to the person.

“The film on Milkha Singh released at the right time. A film on my life can wait as my task is unfinished. I am still into athletics.

“I have watched the film. It is good and youngsters will definitely be motivated watching this.”

Lamenting her lack of awareness about the rules in her competing days, she said: “I lost because I didn’t bend at the finishing line. It was due to lack of experience and exposure at the international level.”
