Satywart Kadiyan Wins Wrestling Bronze In Youth Olympics

Indian wrestler Satywart Kadian added another medals to India’s kitty, winning bronze in junior men’s 100kg freestyle event. Satywart won against Canadian Dhesi Paramveer and South African Andrias Schutte by margins of 3-0 and 3-1 respectivley while he lost 0-3 against Abraham de Jesus Conyedo Ruano of Cuba to finish second in the pool. In the bronze medal match Satywart defeated Georgian Geno Petriashvili 3-1 to win the bronze. This completed a 100 percent record for Indian wrestlers as women wrestler Pooja Dhanda had won a silver yesterday.

In tennis, Yuki Bhambri defeated Chinese Liang-Chi Huang 6-2, 6-4 to qualify for the quarter finals. Yuki, seeded sixth in the tournament will meet John Morrissey of Ireland who defeated 4th seed Duilio Berretta 6-2, 7-6 (4).

HS Prannoy Kumar won his second round match against Feng-Tse Heish 21-13, 18-21, 24-22 to get through to the semi finals. In the semifinal the Indian badminton ace will face top seeded Korean Ji Wook Kang.

In boys’ discus throw, Arjun topped in the qualification and thus fixed his position in the final to be held on 21st August. Arjun’s throw of 63.90 m is his career best. In boys’ 3000m qualification Indian kid Indrajeet Patel finished 9th.

The rowing pair team of both men and women could not qualify for the finals finishing 6th and 5th in their semi finals respectively.

At the end of day 3, China (8-3-1), Russia (7-6-3) and Azerbaijan (5-1-0) continue to hold the top three spots. India have 1 silver and 1 bronze in the kitty.
