The 19th edition of the National Senior Athletic Championships for the Federation Cup will take place at the Mangala Stadium in Mangalore between April 30th and May 4th. According to an official release, District minister-in-charge Ramanath Rai and minister for sports and youth empowerment K Abhayachandra Jain visited the venue on April 18th to inspect the preparations for the championships.
This will be the first time that Karnataka will be staging the championships and the chief minister of the state, Mr Siddaramaiah will be present at the venue to inaugurate the event.

More than 1000 athletes would be taking part in the event, which is spread over 5 days. The participants for international competitions would be chosen from the winners at these championships.
The event is being organised by the Karnataka Amateur Athletic Association, Dakshina Kannada Athletic Association and the district administration.
The release also said that Mangalore-born Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty will also be part of the inaugural ceremony.
