Justin Gatlin and Sally Pearson talk about doping scandal.

US sprinter Justin Gatlin“My situation is over half a decade ago and I have been back and I think that track and field it’s not about explanation, it’s more about what you produce on the track. I think that I have earned the respect of my fans back to be able to come back and run strong and to be able to compete with my country. So I haven’t really read any articles about what’s happening with Tyson or Asafa. I have just been trying to focus on getting into the world championships and getting to the top of the podium. There’s one big man there and he’s right now, he’s holding the top of the podium.”

“I don’t really have any advice for them going forward. I guess the toughest part was just being in shape. I came back 20 pounds overweight. fell like I had a big bag of rocks on my back. Just getting back into shape and having the tools and the proper tools, proper coaching, proper training partners around me to help me get back to where I need to be, which is world class sprinting shape so getting back in shape was the toughest, really the toughest part.”

Australian hurdler Sally Pearson“About what’s happened, because it’s hard. We know these athletes personally as well. It can be difficult. So it’s just a matter of keep going and working hard and being really diligent about what goes into our body and who we trust out there as well so it’s very difficult to really comment and have an opinion about it when you can be quite close to these athletes at the same time.”
