How many teams are left in March Madness? Looking at Final Four predictions and how brackets have fared

Connecticut v Gonzaga
Connecticut celebrates after beating Gonzaga

March Madness is winding down and the field of 68 has been drastically thinned. There has never been a perfect bracket picked in NCAA Tournament history and this was far from changing this year. All perfect brackets were eliminated in the opening round after a hectic start that included three top-four seeds being knocked out.

There are currently six remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament, with two more set to be eliminated today during the second day of Elite Eight matchups. Next weekend will kick off the Final Four with the championship set to be decided on Sunday.

What teams are remaining in March Madness?

The first game of the day, which will determine the South region winner, will pit fifth-seeded Creighton against sixth-seeded San Diego State. Creighton recently defeated 15th-seeded Princeton to advance to the Elite Eight, while San Diego State stunned top-seeded Alabama. Creighton is a 1.5-point favorite in this matchup.

The winner of the game will face the lowest seed remaining in the tournament, Florida Atlantic University. The ninth-seeded Owls most recently defeated Kansas State in a hard-fought 79-76 victory to advance to the Final Four, and they were not shy about trolling Kansas State after the win.

On the other side of the bracket, fifth-seeded Miami is set to face off with second-seeded Texas to decide the winner of the Midwest region of the bracket. Miami entered after knocking off top-seeded Houston in their previous matchups due to impressive performances from their guard trio of Isaiah Wong, Nijel Pack, and Jordan Miller.

Texas has looked the part of a potential NCAA champion during the tournament and has taken down 15th-seeded Colgate, 10th-seeded Penn State, and third-seeded Xavier on their path to the Elite Eight. The Longhorns are regarded as four-point favorites in the matchup.

The winner of the game will face off against fourth-seeded UConn, who won the West region of the bracket. The Huskies put forth a convincing 82-54 win over third-seeded Gonzaga to solidify their legitimacy as a title threat. They are a complete team and are considered the favorites to win it all out of their remaining teams.

As things currently stand, UConn has roughly +120 odds to cut down the nets. Texas is next up at +400 odds, with Creighton right behind them at roughly +450. Despite already being in the Final Four, Florida Atlantic holds +650 odds to win it all, which is fourth out of the remaining teams. San Diego State is listed at +1000 odds while Miami is last at roughly +1200 to round things out.

The odds are sure to shift as the Eight Eight matchup ends and the Final Four is officially set, and the tournament seems destined for an exciting ending.
