Alabama star Brandon Miller, who has been connected to a January murder, spoke about the murder for the first time on Wednesday. After his teammate was one of two men charged with the murder, it was revealed last month that the freshman forward was involved.

Darius Miles, Miller's teammate, and Michael Lynn Davis were charged with the capital murder of Jamea Jonae Harris on Jan. 15.

Last month, it was revealed that Miller brought the murder weapon to Miles, who got the gun from Miller's car. Davis allegedly fired the shot that killed Harris.

Despite his involvement, Miller was never charged with anything. ESPN reported that "on Feb. 22, Miller said in a statement he never touched the gun, never saw the gun and that it was hidden under some clothing in the back seat of Miller's car." The statement was released by Miller's attorney, Jim Standridge.

Brandon Miller spoke about the tragic event on Wednesday afternoon.

“I never lose sight of the fact that a family has lost one of their loved ones that night,” Miller told reporters. “This whole situation is just really heartbreaking. Respectfully, that’s all I’m going to be able to say on that.”

After his arrest, Darius Miles, a junior forward who played in six games this season, was removed from the Alabama men's basketball team. However, Brandon Miller, a potential top five pick in June's NBA draft, remains a pivotal player for the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide (26-5).

Despite being connected to the murder, Miller remains with the team. He was never suspended as the police did not charge him with anything following his cooperation with the investigation.

Along with still being with the team, Miller is thriving for Alabama. The 6-foot-9 forward has played in 31 games, averaging 19.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and shooting 40.4% from 3-point range.

Miller's stellar play has him at the top of draft boards. Recent mock drafts have him being selected in the lottery alongside Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson.

Even with all the off-the-court drama, Miller still seems to be on the fast track to the NBA. In fact, scouts said earlier this year that they don't think the case will impact his stock at all once the draft begins on June 22.
