Chess : India hold Hungary 2-2

India did well in the opening round to hold former Olympiad Champions Hungary to a creditable 2-2 draw in the opening round of the World Team Chess Championship that got started at China on July 17. Top seeds Russia beat USA 3-1 with wins on the white boards. Armenia is leading the 10-team event with a big opening round win. For India, Krishnan Sasikiran scored with black against Zoltan Almasi and for Hungary Judit Polgar scored also with black against Ganguly in board three. Gopal drew Balogh on board four and Harikrishna drew Leko on top board. India play Azerbaijan next with the black pieces on the top and third board. The results (round one): USA lost to Russia 1-3, Armenia bt Israel 3.5-0.5, Egypt lost to Ukraine 1.5-2.5, China drew with Azerbaijan 2-2, India drew Hungary 2-2.
