In the ongoing Chess Olympiad, the Indian men’s team, comprising Gukesh D, Praggnanandhaa R, Arjun Erigaisi, Vidit Gujrathi, and Pentala Harikrishna, bagged the country’s first-ever Olympiad gold at the SYMA Sports and Conference Centre in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday, September 21.

Moving into the details, the Indian men defeated Team USA in the 10th round while the Indian women’s team bagged a victory against the Chinese side. Indian women also occupy the pole position.
In Round 10, Gukesh D took on Fabiano Caruana and registered an exceptional victory. On the other hand, Praggnannadhaa R suffered a loss to Wesley So while Arjun Erigaisi beat Leinier Dominguez. Vidit Gujrathi, meanwhile, settled for a draw against Levon Aronian.

Moving on to the women’s team results, they bagged a thrilling win against the Chinese women’s team.
While Harika Dronavalli, Vaishali R, and Vantika Agrawal settled for draws against Zhu Jiner, Guo Qi, and Lu Miaoyi, it was Divya Deshmukh’s win against Ni Shiqun that helped India to bag a win in the 10th round.
As many as 975 players in the Open and 909 in the Women’s section are taking part in Hungary's 45th Chess Olympiad. With 10 rounds completed, only one is left in the tournament.

A total of 197 teams from 195 nations in the Open section registered for the event while 183 teams from 181 nations in the women's category are competing in the tournament.
