Bobby Hurley's tenure at Arizona State is not looking great at the moment. The Sun Devils came off a 13-20 season and saw their remaining roster decimated due to graduation and portal departures.
The Sun Devils have to build again and it's a variety of new faces that Hurley will utilize in 2025-26. Here's an early look at the Arizona State squad for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Arizona State basketball season preview for 2025-26

Starting lineup
Guard: Adante Holiman
In his fourth school, Holiman is a pure and simple scorer. Last year at Georgia Southern, the 6-foot guard averaged 16.9 points per game and shot 39% from 3-point range. He's never played at this level of competition, but Holiman doesn't seem like the kind of player who will be scared by a challenge.
Guard: Maurice Odum
Odum transfers in from Pepperdine. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 13.1 points and 7.5 assists per game last year for Pepperdine. He's a 38% 3-point shooter and an experienced ball handler. It's fair to wonder how he'll fare against greater athleticism in the Big 12, but Odum is at least a known quality, which is rare on this squad.
Forward: Marcus Adams Jr.
A 6-foot-8 forward from Cal State Northridge, Adams averaged 16.1 points and 4.9 boards per game last season there. He's a 40% 3-point shooter, which would be a welcome sight for Hurley and the Sun Devils. Adams feels like an immediate impact player on a team that's devoid of a lot of needle-moving athletes. He could be significant.
Forward: Marcus Jackson
A 6-foot-8 high school recruit, Jackson is the highest-profile freshman joining Hurley's class. At 6-foot-8, he projects to be an undersized college center with the athleticism and rebounding ability that would allow that sort of classification. Jackson had originally committed to Maryland but will see a significant role at ASU.
Forward: Andrija Grbovic
There's a ton of mystery around many of these players, but the Montenegrin Grbovic is one of the most mysterious. He's 6-foot-9 and 22 years old as he enters American college hoops. He's reputed to be a competent scorer and rebounder. Given the lack of depth on the ASU roster, he's the best shot at a meaningful frontcourt contribution.
Rotation Players
It's open season at this point. Returnee Trevor Best was solid, while fellow returnee Quentin McCoy played five total minutes last year. Freshman Vijay Wallace could help in the backcourt, as could rail-thin Kash Polk in the frontcourt. Bryce Ford (7.1 ppg at Toledo) could help from long range and Santiago Trouet (8.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg at San Diego) will see plenty of action inside.
Impact Players
Holiman and Odum are probably the two keys. Can they create offense at the Big 12 level? Can they avoid getting beaten on defense constantly? There are plenty of questions, but if the ASU squad is going to have answers, those players will be key.
