Jada Gyamfi may not have seen a lot of game time, yet she's one of the most popular faces on Iowa's women's basketball team. The junior is not only a fan-favorite but also engages with her teammates, with Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall becoming her closest friends.
With the trio now gone, Gyamfi is enjoying bonding with her current teammates, including fellow juniors Hannah Stuelke and Taylor McCabe. On Wedneday, the 6-foot-1 forward took to TikTok to share a video with the duo, showing off some stylish outfits for fans.
The Hawkeyes are in Cancun, Mexico to take part in the Cancun Challenge. Gyamfi added a caption within her video that summed up how the feeling of being in a different country hit her.
"How life feels when you're out of the country, so all of your problems no longer exist," wrote Gyamfi.
In the eight-second video, Jada Gyamfi showed off a beige halter-top with jeans, while Stuelke donned a stunning blue mini dress. McCabe chose to keep things simple, donning a white full-sleeved hoodie and white shorts, as she and Stuelke shared their candid reactions to featuring in Gyamfi's short video.
The Hawkeyes have entered a new era in their women's basketball program, with Caitlin Clark becoming the top pick of this year's WNBA draft and Lisa Bluder retiring after 24 seasons at the helm. They have made a stellar start under new coach Jan Jensen, winning their opening six games of the season.
They begin the Cancun Challenge against the Rhode Island Rams on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Jada Gyamfi enjoyed a successful high school basketball career
Jada Gyamfi was one of the top recruits in the Hawkeyes' Class of 2022. The Johnston-native enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Johnston High, leading them to the 2022 Class 5A Iowa State championship.
Gyamfi was also named the team's MVP in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, while also earning the Offensive Player of the Year and the Captain award.
However, she hit a roadblock in her freshman season at Iowa, as she suffered a concussion during a fall practice session as well as an ankle injury. Since then, her game time has been sparse, often coming off the bench.
This season, Jada Gyamfi has played just 22 minutes across four appearances and is likely to remain on the bench for the remainder of the season, given the stiff competition among forwards.
