LSU star Flau'jae Johnson along with her mom Kia Brooks showcased the selfless act of providing Thanksgiving meals to those in need on Tuesday. The Savannah, Georgia native and her mom handed out 500 turkeys to underprivileged families in their hometown.
Brooks shared the heartwarming experience of giving back to the community on her Instagram story.
"I'm not sure how many families you actually will feed but with your heart, God will continue to keep you covered. Amen," Brooks captioned the story.
Johnson, a junior guard for the Lady Tigers, valued at $1.5 million in NIL, then reposted her mom's story onto her own.
"Happy Thanksgiving ❤️ blessed some families this year," she added.
Flau'jae Johnson is in the Bahamas with the LSU squad for the Pink Flamingo Championship. The No. 7 Tigers registered a narrow 68-67 win over Washington on Monday and will face No. 20 NC State in the championship game on Wednesday.
Although she is still in Nassau, Johnston arranged to donate meals to the less fortunate. Through the help of politician Carl Gilliard, her mother Kia Brooks, delivered food to the Walmart Supercenter on Abercorn Street in Savannah.
"Not a day goes by that @flaujae doesn’t think of others that possibly might be in need during these times," Kia posted on Instagram along with videos from the giveaway. "Happy Thanksgiving to you all, I pray this season bring you and your family love and togetherness."
Flau'jae Johnson uses her platform to empower Savannah's community
Flau'jae Johnson has been spending a lot of time in her hometown of Savannah and has built a strong bond with the local community.
Johnson, who dropped her debut rap album "Best of Both Worlds" this summer, visited Savannah in August last year for the 'Back 2 School' event and donated $10,000 to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club.
In July, Johnson held the second annual 'Back 2 School' giveaway program, where she handed out backpacks, school supplies, shoes and food.
"It means a lot to me just to see the kids all having a good time and being happy," Flau'jae said. I never had anything like this growing up, so holding this means a lot, and I want to make it bigger and bigger to help people out. It's all about the kids."
Besides, Flau'jae Johnson purchased a 20-acre of land in Atlanta in October.
