Could Cooper Flagg wind up with the Duke Blue Devils?

Cooper Flagg, a five-star power forward and the top-ranked prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, had an official visit with the Duke Blue Devils last weekend. While he has offers from plenty of programs, it appears to be a two-team race between Duke and UConn, two blue-blood programs.

Flagg had originally shown interest in several schools; however, he canceled his official visit with the Kansas Jayhawks earlier this month. He has only taken official visits with the Blue Devils, which he did last weekend, and the UConn Huskies, which he did last month.

As things stand, the Blue Devils appear to be the favorite to land Flagg, who is just 16 years old and will begin his collegiate career at the age of 17.

247 Sports' Crystal Ball Predictions gives Duke a 100% chance of landing Flagg, while On3 Sports' Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Duke a 97.6% chance of landing him. While UConn remains in the fold, it is unclear how close the race is.

Eric Bossi of 247 Sports shared that Flagg's decision could come within the next few weeks, writing:

"Exactly how and when Flagg is going to announce his decision is yet to be determined, but it shouldn't take too long to lock in a decision. Sources close to Flagg have been very protective when it comes to information about his timeline and the 'reveal,' so all that is known at this point is that Flagg should be deciding in time for the early signing period, which begins on Nov. 8."

How has Cooper Flagg performed in his high school career?

Cooper Flagg has shown plenty of promise in his high school career. Flagg averaged 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 steals and 3.7 blocks per game as a freshman at Nokomis Regional High School in Maine. In March 2022, Flagg became the first freshman in state history to be named Maine Gatorade Player of the Year.

Cooper Flagg transferred to Florida's Montverde Academy, which has produced plenty of NBA talent, for his final three seasons of high school basketball. His production and playing time were both down, however, as he averaged just 9.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.6 spg and 2.2 bpg.

Flagg, who was the third-ranked overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class until he reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class this summer, is expected to step into a larger role as an upperclassman this year.
